When I’m feeling sartorially — or otherwise — uninspired, I like to look to real girls for inspiration. I met WhoWhatWear co-founder Hillary Kerr at a Barney’s/NARS event recently, and her ladylike style really stood out. It was pretty, cool and effortless, not to mention versatile (couldn’t you see wearing this to work, brunch or for a date night out?).

What may look like a jewel-collar dress is actually a simple tee (from American Apparel, if I recall correctly) paired with a statement necklace, pretty pumps, a chainstrap crossbody bag, and a tiered but tailored skirt that highlights Hillary’s tiny waist and hourglass figure. Not to mention a cocktail ring that was a great conversation piece.

The ring is by Luv AJ, a cool jewelry line that was created by former WhoWhatWear intern Amanda Thomas. Obviously, these girls have style in spades.

If you can’t hop on a plane to Paris with your bestie this summer (or to visit your bestie in Paris), gazing at pictures of stylish French girlfriends is the next best thing, non? Thanks to my dear friend Jenny Sundel of the Jesus Year Project who snapped these photos for us, we can all stare as long as we want (be sure to follow all of Jenny’s adventures in Paris and beyond here). Let’s kick things off with these Louis Vuitton-loving lovelies sporting perfectly imperfect chignons. I love how similar friends dress, but with their own twist. The girl on the right pairs her denim with a chic scarf, while her friend opts for a downtown plaid shirt and denim jacket. Whose look do you like best? Let’s play Paris Fashion Police, shall we?

Dita Von Teese, is that you? Spotted in the St. Germain, a Dita lookalike in a colorblock dress, oversized sunnies and flat sandals. Following closely behind, a woman dons a timeless white buttondown with a sweater draped over her shoulders, black cigarette pants and ballet flats.

These BFFs both sport skinny jeans and flowy tops. The girl on the left pairs hers with funky wedges and a small crossbody bag. Her friend on the right strolls in flats and carries a larger structured bag. Who styled skinny jeans and a flowy top best? You be the judge.

The girl on the left pairs her black jeans with a bright yellow top, tomboy tan oxfords, a man’s watch, and a messy bun on the top of her head. Her friend opts for a blue t-shirt, strappy gladiator sandals, a long necklace, a few casual bracelets and straight locks.

The lady on the left dons a classic below-the-knee black suit (Chanel, perhaps?) with a lavender blouse, a white hat, pointy black flats, black shoulder bag and black sunglasses. Her friend on the right, a below-the-knee eggplant dress, pointy black kitten heels, a camel hat and artfully draped jacket.
