Gisele’s Post-Baby Body Graces Vogue’s April Cover

Snuggled up in bed recovering from flopping into spring rather than springing forward (ouch), just about to enjoy the comforts of a chocolate donut, this plopped into my inbox. Thanks, Voguettes. Gisele’s post-baby body graces the cover of Vogue’s annual Shape Issue (April) and she tells us “I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week. I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds.”

Does this inspire you to get in shape or to shoot someone? Nibble on that while I nibble on this donut…

The Daily Giggle: Coffee and Cigarettes Mug

I don’t drink coffee. And I don’t smoke cigarettes (or anything else for that matter, Mom!). And I don’t support smoking. At all. In fact, I loathe it. But this amusing coffee and cigarettes mug by Carlo Trevisani reminds me of Paris and made me smile. An irreverent Easter gift, perhaps? I wonder if you can replace the cigarette with a lollypop. A hot chocolate and lollypop mug is something I could really get behind. You?

Project Runway Episode 8: Earth, Wind & Fire (Oh, and Air)

Project Runway episode 8 challenged the designers with concocting looks based on the elements: earth, wind, fire and air. While we can applaud the designers for not going too literal, their avoidance of the literal, in many cases, caused catastrophes. But we’ll focus on the best. And by best, we mean the most interesting (because the rest — snoozefest).

Mad Men Barbies?

My niece is “three half” (translation: three and a half) and hasn’t had a Barbie yet. These Mad Men Barbies might change all that. Of course we’ll skip the martini and cigarettes for accessories (I jest). Mattel says they will retail for about $75 each, as part of the Barbie Fashion Model Collection, and will be available in July.

p.s. Where are Joan’s curves?

The Daily Giggle: Siamese Slanket

The Snuggie and Slanket have been popping up everywhere, even in this week’s episode of Cougar Town (so funny). But when Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were cuddled up in one together at the Oscar’s, we had to find out more. Turns out there’s a product called the Siamese Slanket. Eeew! And you can get yours for you and your fave co-dependent love at the one and only catalog for everything you never knew you needed, SkyMall.

p.s. If you want a great deal on great gifts people would actually want, one of my fave gift sites, Wishingfish, is having a moving sale. Get 50% off everything with code MOVING50 at checkout.

Oscars: Worst Dressed

Charlize Theron; Zoe Saldana

We swear we have nothing against purple. In fact, we’ve been rather obsessed with it recently (could it be spring and Easter looming on the horizon?). But these two gorgeous-beyond-belief ladies topped our Worst Dressed List for other reasons. Charlize, two reasons (hint, hint: both can be found between your shoulders and your waist). Zoe, the color is fab on you, but it also looks like Barney tossed his cookies on you. The bottom also reminds us of those scrunchy shirts that were all the rage 8 years ago (and to our horror, that we recently spotted in Walgreens).

Molly Ringwald; Penelope Cruz

Oh, Molly. The dress is actually not bad. In fact, the sheen aside, we like it a lot. But the accessories and hair kill it. A low-slung chignon would have been perfect, but the springy wire at the waist and arm are just unforgiveable. Perhaps, you should stick to pink? You are so pretty in it (sorry, couldn’t resist). Penelope, you’re far too beautiful to wrap yourself in curtains. Ms. O’Hara may disagree, but the heavy drapes are not working for us (plus, you blend into the carpet). Look: the carpet does match the drapes!

Oscars: Best Dressed

Tina Fey; SJP; Nicole Richie

Fashion is very personal and we know that our picks are bound to be controversial and likely to land on many Worst Dressed Lists. But we can’t help it. We loved these gowns and the ladies in them because they stood out, made a statement, and most of all, because we’ll remember them. We also thought they reflected each woman’s personal style so well. From the vintage-inspired to the artful and glamorous, our faves picks for Best Dressed.

Vera Farmiga; Diane Kruger

But you be the judge. Who do you think deserves the top prize of Best Dressed?

Rachel McAdams; Sandra Bullock
