My darlings, are you excited for the long weekend? I am, particularly because someone in the family is celebrating a big birthday and we get to help him ring it in! He’s bashful, so I won’t mention any names, but I have this certain someone to thank not only for my love of martinis, but also for my husband (he’s partially to credit anyway). Speaking of, this Saturday Fred Baby and I are celebrating six years of being married and I couldn’t be happier. Happy six, my love!

But back to the man of the hour. He loves books (I’ve never seen a home filled with more – it’s a dream come true!), photography, travel, fast cars, art, a good stiff drink, and has an appreciation for lovely ladies. But most of all, he loves his children and his amazing wife. Please join me in saying Happy Birthday to the guy who just may be the most interesting man in the world. May we all be so lucky to live such a full, adventurous life!
And to you, my dears, wishing you a wonderful long weekend full of love and joy. How do you plan on spending it?

Today is 11.11.11, my darlings. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m traveling, or if it’s because today is my brother-in-law’s birthday (happy birthday, Nick!), or if it’s because holiday decorations are adding a festive touch to San Francisco’s adorable shops, but today does feel a little more special. A bit magical, if you will. Today seems like a good day to make a wish, a big wish. What will you be wishing for, my dears?
Wishing you a magical weekend and sending an extra big dose of gratitude and thanks to our selfless veterans who make everyone’s wish for a better world come true a bit more every single day.
xx,
k

Bunnies, are you ready for a fun weekend? Today is my Mom’s birthday and even though we are many miles apart, I plan to do the right thing and have many, many cupcakes in her honor. Happy Birthday, Mamala! It’s also my Mom and Dad’s 38th wedding anniversary. My Mom got married on her 18th birthday. Incredible, right? (I’m pretty sure I was still sleeping with stuffed animals when I was 18. Um, I still am. Is that weird? Don’t answer that.) So happy 38th Mom & Dad! (And sorry, Mom, for revealing your age – to anyone who can do math).

In more family news, my sister-in-law and brother-in-law are popping down from San Francisco for a visit, so I’m excited to greet them with abundant sunshine…and Moscow Mules. And since it’s the last weekend before this, I need to get my costume in order. Do you have any fun Halloween costume ideas? Should I buy a fox mask and call it a day?
What will you be this year? More importantly, will I see you at The Ace?
Here’s to a playful weekend…cake and kisses!

How goes it, buttercups? Today I planned to attend a fun fashion blogger lunch, brainstorm questions for my Janie Bryant interview, meet my hubby for a stroll around the lake, and then dine with friends at Michael Voltaggio’s new restaurant Ink. It was going to be the best Friday ever (okay, slight exaggeration, but it was going to be pretty darn good). Instead, some vicious bug had other plans for our household.
I hope you will be ringing in October in much better health and spirits. My new plan involves devouring the latest issue of In Style and a non-stop rom-com marathon. And finishing my interview questions for Mad Men’s brilliant costume designer Janie Bryant. If you have anything you’d like to ask her, just leave your questions in the comments below and I’ll see what I can do (dates with Jon Hamm notwithstanding).
Here’s to a healthy, happy first weekend of October (and me never coming up with such awful post titles again, sorry)!

Happy first day of fall, buttercups! How will you be ringing in the new season? We’re starting to get settled in to our new home and I’m excited to nest. There’s a wonderful breeze blowing through our place right now and it’s making me excited to wear boots and sweaters (and tights and capes!). And I suddenly want to bake eat chocolate chip cookies! I’m also looking forward to finally leaving the boxes behind for a bit, meeting up with friends and exploring our new neighborhood. If you have any Silver Lake-area favorites, please send them my way!
