Golden Globes Trend: Grey Goddess

Think grey is for the blah? Think again. A very slim-looking Jennifer Garner glows in her silver-grey Atelier Versace gown, while Glee’s Dianna Agron shines as a Greek goddess. Jenna Fischer finally hits her red carpet stride, umbrella in hand, in a Halston number that’s not appropriate for The Office.

Would you wear grey on the red carpet?

Golden Globes Trend: One-Shoulder Dresses

A look that evoked cool and classic, but seemed suddenly brand new? One-shoulder dresses. Reese Witherspoon looked every bit the California girl in her understated one-shoulder gown only rivaled by Jennifer Taniston (drool, Brangelina — and John Mayer, drool), who radiated California-cool in her black one-shoulder Valentino dress. The standout beauty of the night? The very French and fabulous Marion Cotillard, whose Christian Dior dress was almost as pretty as the actress herself.  The newly engaged Jane Krakowski was no slouch either in her single-shouldered Golden Globes dress by J. Mendel.

Golden Globes Trend: Blush Tones

One of the most gorgeous trends we spotted on the red carpet? Beautiful blush tones. From pale nudes to champagne hues to bolder rose frocks, blushing beauties like Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks (who gave new meaning to Golden Globes in her peachy Christian Siriano ruffly number), Maggie Gyllenhal and Drew Barrymore rocked the red carpet in barely there blush tones.

Which blushing beauty's frock would you rock?

Golden Globes Trend: Purple Reign

The Golden Globes did not disappoint when it came to glamour and many top trends emerged. One of the best? Purple. From lilac to orchid, stars from Chloe Sevigny to Sandra Bullock and songbird Fergie popped off of the red carpet in pretty purple. Doesn’t it look so fresh? You be the judge and rate the red carpet, fashion critic.

Are you feeling purple?

Style Idol: Kelly Wearstler

One of the best gifts I received this Christmas (from my darling, darling hubby)? Interior designer Kelly Wearstler’s new, delicious book Hue. It is beyond words. Gorgeous. I want to live in every space she creates. And I also want to live in every outfit she wears, including the fabulous frock she dons on the tome’s cover. So my eyes have been peeled. I was happier than Kelly Wearstler in crimped hair when I spotted this amazing Matthew Williamson dress on one of my favorite interior design blogs, Coco & Kelley (hmmm, I’m noticing a Kelly theme here). But $2500 for a dress can be a little daunting (think of how many cupcakes that could buy!). So when I spotted this fab alternative by Mark on the Glam Chic blog (thank you Nola Weinstein), I was over the moon. For less than $30, I can start making my fashion fantasies a reality. A very good start to the New Year indeed.

What was your favorite gift this holiday season?
